IMO, the best think for you is to get hold of NERO - some easy to use software which doesn pretty much everyhting u can think of when it comes to cd/dvd/pics/vids.
PC world sell it.
TBH I have never tried it with a DVD - I know Windows writes pics (jpegs) to CD-R and they work in DVD players.....
You can also download Nero 6 now aswell, as 7 has superceeded it. Serial numbers are easily found - might even be able to get a working copy from Nero's site
