I'd disagree there, all the bulb does is connect to the alternator to derive either earth or 12v. For the bulb to be on with the car switched off, there has to be a 12v supply to the ignition circuit.......the alternator is simply resting at ground.
Have you had the dash put or anything wiring related while its been in the bodyshop?
