does driving the car with a wanked cam have any knock on effects on the rest of the car?

dont want to keep doing miles in it if im doing damage

it does take a while to start sounding smooth, sometimes sounds like it needs a bit of a rev even after its been running for 10 mins and is nice and warm

what cam u recommend then?
How much is a cam by the way!?
