I never went down the cossie route for the same reason, Iv blew my engine up last month after 106,000 / 88,000 done by me.
I managed to get a second hand engine off someone on here that had all the receipts for the work done in the previous 6 months and with 285cams for £400.00.
This was because it is a dohc 8v 2.0 but mine does have a TT conversioin on it which pulls a half respectable 200 horses .
At least these engine are two a penny, i feel for you and this is what i have now
