Default Cossie noisey rear end most likely cause?

Whilst driving up the M6 to Cumbria and back over the weekend i noticed a problem with the Saff. The engine that i built didn't miss a beat although the clutch is shite Anyway the main problem was at speeds of over a ton (allegedly ) a loud droning weird noise accompanied with a vibration would start and get worse the quicker the car was going The diff is a bit noisy even at urban speeds but this feels more like something badly out of balance at the rear? Its not the wheels as it does it with both sets on! When i 1st put the car on the road i noticed a bit of black gunge on my passenger side rear wheel and traced it to grease from a loose driveshaft to hub on that side. This is now tight and nothing else is loose. What i am thinking is that that loose driveshaft could have possibly fooked the wheel bearing on that side???
Any thoughts please fella's as i'm doing the diff at the end of the week and would like to sort everything in one hit
