Just done a measurement:
The arm in the car is about 16,5cm long (from the connection to the release bearing to the end), and the one that I got from an MK4 is ~18,5cm.

So you say it wont matter for me. Then what's the difference between them? Its lighter to push the pedal with the longer one?
Thats the answer to the question then......

The longer one (newer one) will make the pedal lighter, but will need more pedal travel to fully disengage.........

Take your pick in that case, my MK3 cabby has a S1 box with the shorter arm, and a 220mm clutch, works fine and the pedal isn't at all hard. You may well find the holes on the gearboxes are different and don't line up if you change the arm for the longer one aswell so bear that in mind
