AFAIK, you cannot get that joint off the end.

What you need is a 'Stretchy gaitor' and a special tool to 'dilate' the gaitor and allow it to pass over the joint.

You can get the stretchy gaitors from a motor factor and the tool, I imagine, from Halfords or somewhere similar.
