I have the cossie in bits at the moment to replace the lifters and sort out a few other jobs.

Took the exhaust cam out, and was confronted by this:

Now the panic has worn off, I'm looking for some advice...

The damage is confined to 2 of the bearings (caps 3&4).

I had some work done to the head in march last year, so I assume the problem to have been caused by some swarf from the machine work

I've been told that whilst its not ideal, its OK to de-burr, clean it up a little and stick it back together whilst I find another head.
