There was a fair amount of mates rates stuff done to the car which would cost more but I got the car completely checked over for rust and repaired where it was found, lots of archwork (involving cutting and re-welding the arches to prevent future rusting), smoothing of bonnet, bootlid and bumpers, engine bay spraying, colour coding of various bits and bobs (including strut brace and crumby Halfords battery! ) and new sills welded in etc. for £1500.

Thanks for the comments guys - been a long time in the coming but I'm only really into subtle body mods - like to concentrate my efforts on making the car perform better rather than get weighed down with jap-pap and filler!
