This is also my first post. Things sound familiar... I also have a 1.8 Mondeo that could probably do with a partial rebuild.
The cars burning oil and blue smoking when I accelerate, so I'm guessing the piston rings could do with being replaced.

How have you found it so far mate ? I've been doing a bit of reading about taking the head off etc (I've never done one before). I hear that you need to remove the engine mounts and need a crane to get the head off ? is this true ?

I'd be interested in hearing about your experiences, what you've rebuilt, how long it took you, etc
