I appreciate that Rhys, but slow isn't likely to be a problem - it's probably never gonna be connected to the net, it won't even have Office installed on it, won't be used for any kind of photoshop type programme, won't ever have PDF reader on it etc.... All it needs to have is Windows Media Player on it and enough HDD space for me to load my MP3 collection onto it.
At the end of the day all I want to use it for is as a posh MP3 player. If it was capable of running a sound recording programme then that would be a bonus aswell.
I could buy an MP3 player for £30 but then I would only get 1gb, maybe 2gb at the most, storage, and I would need a headphone amp aswell to go with it. To get a 6gb MP3 player is gonna cost a ton on it's own, and I could do with more space than that to be fair...
It's a shame, as I had an old laptop kicking around for a while, cost me £50 a few years ago. Wasn't anything special, only had a 2gb drive, and no sound, but I could have added a 10gb drive for £20 and a sound card for £30 and been sorted..... But it went tits up on me a few months back and wouldn't boot up, and refused to let me reinstall an OS
So I took it apart
