When i had a fiesta turbo, It was quite common with superchip conversions to have the boost sensor removed, they told me the sensors are not always that reliable therefore they just remove them and set the boost levels up by altering the actuator rod length.
If i'm correct the boost sensor doubles the boost (so if the sensor failed you would only get half the boost levels), if you have had the car set up for use without the sensor connected your actuator will be set for say 15psi, as soon as you connect it it will try and produce 30psi. One way to a blown engine.
It doesn't really matter if you have it connected or not as long as the max boost levels set correctly, my big turbo cos still uses the boost sensor
A rolling road will be able to set this up for you......
