Best he can hope for is to go on a speed awareness course imo. No points, just a little more expensive than the fixed penalty fine.
That is, if his local police force offer it to him.

Just been on said course last saturday, and the police are clearly clamping down on speeders in 30 and 40 mph zones. That's where most accidents occur, and they are usually quite serious car vs pedestrian ones.

Watch out in the 30's and 40's guys, it's VERY easy to get caught out
