cts box or original ford is the only ones i would ever buy now
A CTS box is a rebuild

I've had a re-built box in the past which was Very good and lasted a good few years running high power.

Obviously the two you had were cheap & nasty re-con boxes
re-con re-build.......its all the same thing

in the many years of breaking boxes with RST's there are a few chunks of vital information you must know when buying a gearbox.

1. A rebuilt box should ALWAYS have a new shaft in it
2. Larger or uprated bearings require the casing to be modded, not the shaft.
3. If you have any doubts about any components, bin them, and replace with new.
4. Dont trust any gearbox builder who machines the shaft, or claims anything about sleeving the shaft for 'strength'
5. A DIESEL GEARBOX IS NOT STRONGER THAN AN RST BOX!

hope this helps. havent had a rant about boxes in ages, and belive me, i have destroyed a few.

Afirmative.

Bernies boxes might also be rebuilds BUT they seem to be generally pretty good and I certainly wouldn't entertain anything else.. but thats me...

Ginge, when the box went again I just fucked it off, I couldn't be arsed with the hassle of them fixing it.. BUT I did get em to fit it..
