I'd happily go to court and pay a bigger fine as it will have cost the bastards more to get me there than the fine and costs will generate for them

Fixed penalty notices aren't guaranteed they are only an option the plod has. They do like them though as it's less paperwork for them and they don't have to turn up in court to tell their fibs
