try spaying it with wd40 and using a wire brush attatchment on a drilll at low rpm
DON'T get it sandblasted / shotblasted - there's always sand left inside and when it heats upm it all dislodges and goes into the engine..........and shotblasting will rid the original texture. Either get it acid dipped or as the man says, WD40 and a soft drill wire attachment and go SLOW..................
