my dads dax rush has 2ltr sierra hubs on it. it had 260mm discs and the calipers to suit.
he wanted to use the cosworth discs, so he bought 280mm 4x4 discs. and an adaptor plate from dax that spaced the caliper out and away from the hub as the discs are wider and the ofset is different.
the normal discs he had we about 20mm further away from the wheels that the cossie discs.
now the problem was that the adaptor bracket that dax sell is to be used when up gradeing from 240mm discs and capliers to suit to cossie discs.
so his calipers would be spaced to far away from the discs.
he bought reconditioned 240mm calipers to use with the adaptor bracket and fitted the new discs and calipers.
using his original discs and calipers he had the brake bias set up so the fronts locked up before the rears.
after fitting the cosworth discs and the 240mm calipers the backs started out braking the fronts and locked up first.
the 260mm caliper that he was using in the first place had a 60mm piston and the 240's only have a 50mm.
he would like to use his original calipers with the new discs but he will need to make a new bracket that dosnt look to easy as it dosnt need spacing as much as the 240mm calipers so might not actually be possible as it may actually need to be where the hub is.
the only other thing i can think of is to use the focus st170 discs with the adaptor bracket and his 260mm calipers. but the problem is do they have the same ofset as the cosworth disc?
the 260mm disc is set quite far back from the wheel towards the hub.
and the cosworth disc is a lot closer to the wheel. this is hwat allow the adaptor bracket to be used.
ive tried to knock up a quick diagram to show what i mean.
the main thing i want to know is does the st170 discs have the same ofset as a cosworth disc.
