I can only comment on my recent experience Mark. I phoned another well known tuning emporium in the west of town to ask what pistons and rods
were fitted in an engine (they used to make) which I'd picked up very cheap as (surprise surprise)
it had died in a fairly dramatic way. These 'gentlemen' steered me in the direction of your man who told me (amongst other things)..'200 bhp is more
than enough in a front wheel drive car'! 'We have built 1000 of those and only
about 50 split their blocks'..(that'll be 5% of his system 2's suffered just
1 type of malfunction) 'cast pistons are fine at low boost'. The Lord alone knows why anyone would pay 2k for an engine that was only fit to run the 6 psi that the Mercedes Kompressor does/the cast pistons he fits.
The guy you could probably do with meeting/seeing is Dave baker
have a look at his site www.pumaracing.co.uk you'll see he has his own made
and why, also gives a few clues as to what to look out for when choosing
an engine builder/tuner. Good Luck ma man.
