It's the first mod I'd personally have done as a matter of course, on an EsCos, they cause so many problems. It's quite fiddly though, and I think there's a fair few wires in there.

If you KNOW they aren't causing a problem, and are in very good condition, you could pack the connectors with Vaseline (it's non water based so shouldn't affect the terminals/pins) and should protect them from water ingress in the future.
