All they'll do, if you take yourself into hospital, is do a quick X-ray, confirm it's broken, then strap it to the next toe with that thick/strong plaster-tape stuff......may aswell just do that yourself.
Easy test, if you can move it without wanting to punch a wall through, it's not broken!
Broke two of my toes quite a few years back, was running barefoot through the house, slipped, put my foot out to catch my balance, and ended up sliding the foot almost neatly under a door......I say "almost", because three toes went under the door, and the remaining two toes went vertically up the door and *crack*
