I was doing my rounds of my local banks telling them that I'm unemployed and so a bit short on money blah blah blah and had to squirm as the reality of my money situation was highlited to me.

So walked in to my barclays and used the service phone to call barclay card (my last serious debt that I have) and got though to an operator and said.

"Just calling to say that I'm not able to make this months payment on the bill as I'm currently unemployed and just wanted to talk to you about what I can do if anything about this for now."

"Thats fine sir, but you dont owe us any payments."

I nearly dropped the phone.

"Sorry? Dont owe you any payments??"

"Yes your balance is Zero. Thefore you dont owe any money."

"Hang on... there was nearly two grand on it about two weeks ago."

"Yes thats right and a payment of £1,800 was paid on the 20th of Feb... was that not you?"

"Erm... I think I made a mistake.... dont worry about it, I'll check my statements and call you back, thanks."

I haven't a clue how that was paid, so I sharpisly closed the account and cut the card up!!!
