The inner circlip needs to be removed to get the cross shaft out....its the larger one of the two one holds the speedo drive in place the other retains the bearing but the bearing is cased(it wont drop in bits) once the inner circlip is off you can get a slide hammer on to remove...or drift it out....the diff will come out with the cross shaft in but with it out it makes it easy to lower it down with everything still in place...
