Your ACT will be at the highest at full boost, therefor you want to get a reading when the boost is at maxium. With a ten second update, you will seldom get a reading at full boost, because you are seldom at full boost for ten seconds. To increase the chance of getting a reading on full boost it's important to have a gauge that updates quickly, like every second. The gauges I know of do this.
