I picked my boat up from a local marine engineer last friday , and after spending the weekend finishing off the trimming we decided to take it out on monday !
after lauching it , the motor wouldnt start which pissed me off and i ended up flattening the battery on the boat and my range rover trying
when we got it out of the water and pulled the engine cover off i was horrified to see the main petrol feed pipe wasnt attached to the carb,s properly and was leaking petrol down the side of the engine . i then found another pipe with no clip on it followed by another . i also found 3 bolts sitting in the bottom of the engine platform , and 5 bolts not even tightened up (2 of them are head bolts )
at the end of the day i paid this company over £1200 to supply and fit 1 piston and ring with big and small end bearings and to set the carbs up etc etc simply to get it back in the water .
i have spoken to trading standards and the health and safety executive who have told me its nothing they can get involved with ??
ive spoken to the bloke who did the work and all he can say is "im only human and i MIGHT have made a mistake" obviously i got a little heated with him on the phone and i was persuaded by my dad and my missus that my usual method of problem solving wouldnt get me anywhere . so my old man went up to speak to the bloke and ended up getting threatened by the bloke and his helper .
what's the best or only way to deal with this fucking idiot ? cos i am more than happy to take a couple of my slightly larger friends with me to pay the scum bag a visit and show him how displeased i am with him .
remember guys , i had my 3 year old son in the boat and if the thing had started the fuel would have pissed out of the pipe and eventually caught fire and possibly exploded , which doesnt bare thinking about ..
advice / suggestions please
