I brought a 'fuel sender unit' (?) complete with fuel pump from a breakers for about £40, just to give you an idea of price. vaguely recall Ford wanted around £100?

I've seen XR2i units but they have a different bend in shape which holds the fuel pump too high up so not a good idea to use one of those, incase you were wondering. A mate and I found this out the hard way....
