whats better and why?

looking for a diy build either case with somewhere in the region of 300bhp mark?

i'm thinking 2.0/2.1 [i'm assuming the 2.1 is better?] using c20let pistons? on standard rods? what sort of CR would that run with a cvh hemi head/2.0 zetec head?
