Well put it this way, the latest decent ford engines, ie the 2-2.3litre Duratec, there is already countless uprated cranks, conrods, pistons, blah blah, so you think tis not easy rebuildable?
Basically Ford cant be arsed, like all manufacturers its a lot easier and cheaper to luzz in another of their mass produced bottom ends rather than fix the broke one.
But they can be, and therefore are easily uprated too.
