ok cool, i have to go to leeds now, but im going to get her in the air tomorrow and have a proper look...
im still sure my new relay is fucked, as even when connecting it to a differant battery, it doesnt close (the old, melted one does)
i think the electromagnet thingy must have been fooked on the new-un, but i cant get another till monday
