When you have been paying installments for something by Direct Debit or Standing Order and it ends or you don't renew, it's up to you, as the individual, to cancel the DDs at your bank immediately after the last payment. This will stop any further attempts being made to take money from your account, it also deals with any confusion that may arise at a much sooner date than has happened in this case.
