i hated the XR2, too noisey and uncomfortable and i had no money to put rims on it but i hated the standard look so i sold it.
same really with the Pug GTi, it was black with red carpets, everyone said it looked like a pimps car when you opened the doors
although i did prefer it to drive rather than the XR2.
but the two deciding factors were 1) im to tall for both them cars 2) it doesnt help when you have just met a bird that lives 80 miles away and your going to see her 3 times a week
hence buying the sierra, bigger car so i can fit in it and it sits on the motorway just fine.
and i get miles better MPG out of the sierra than i did out of those two cars.
