Ive also got a 1.8 turbo golf and that gets about 35ish mpg with some heavy foot driving,

I never bought the escort to be better on fuel, but i was realy suprised when it drank a full tank in 200 miles

so sounds like i deffo got a problem then......just a case of trying to find it
