I would also say its the disributor. They have "tachometric" relays, they operate from the low tension ignition signals. If the sensor in the dizzy breaks down then no low tension signals will be produced, hence no spark, or fuel. The fuel pump should however still prime when you turn the ignition on. If it doesnt prime then there is obviously another fault too.
As for the ignition ECU's they should all start your car, but some of the earlier ones don't support the knock sensor and second coolant sensor the later models have, i'd keep your ecu (incase u were going to change) but its ok to check it works, i wouldnt drive the car hard on them though, idling will be ok.
