You need to get the part that the track rod end sits in machined out to take the larger Track Rod end.

Had to do it a few years ago when I stuck 2.8 Billies on my first mk2.
Unbolt the things they mount into from the rear of the 2.8i strut & get them drilled out by an engineer.

Mine cost me £10 for the pair
