excessive backpressure will go a long way to damaging turbo's but at good levels helps on boost (ie slightly quicker spooling)....

people have run their cars for years chattering all the way on the same turbo so can't say chatter will kill a turbo or go any way to killing it. Dump valves on other hand cause all sorts of probs on cars i know which 'risk' i'd rather be taking
