Hello all

I have a mk3 xr3i, 1983 model which I have been fettling for the past year. I have got all the body work structurally sorted, and will probably get it sprayed later this year.

Just one thing I need to sort it now is the gearbox which is noisy on the overrun. I have been looking at a cts box but at £600 they are a bit much for a bog standard engine on a car covering less than 2000 miles a year.

Mk3 boxes are getting hard to come by, and I fancy dropping the final drive slightly to get more relaxed motorway speed driving.


I have been looking at mk5 boxes as they have the same mounting but am not sure which models would fit ...from zetec engined models, starter position and all that.

Any advice on what to look for would be very appreciated.
