Default Why is my wireless network so slow?

I have some fairly new Netgear 108Mbps wireless kit, (an ADSL router, 108Mbps USB stick and 108Mbps PCI card).

With some careful preparation they all have pretty much a full signal (never less than 75%)

Both PCs are connected ot the router at 108Mbps yet it takes over an hour to copy a 350Mb file from one to the other And the stats say it never transmits at more than 2Mbps during this.

I have the latest drivers/router firmware and it seems quicker if I copy from one of the wireless stations to the pc that is wired into the switch on 100Mbit cable and then onto the other

There is no one else connecting to my network (it has a 128-bit key and the name isn't broadcast)

Any advice to speed it up? I was thinking I maybe need another wireless access point in the room with the two wireless PCs, but the router is only across the landing.
