For direct DVD backups, use DVDshrink (google it ) which will allow you to "back up" your DVD's to your hardrive and also compress them down to size to fit on a 4.7gb blank DVD disc. Then use Nero for burning

For turning MOV/AVI/MPEG/WMV etc to DVD compatible files for burning to DVD disc, use WinAVI (download any free trial of it, then PM me for the crack to make it a full copy ) which is a multi format convertiong tool.
