I think for most violent offences they have to charge within a year?

When ive been bailed for assault ive been back in and charged within a coupe of weeks, but its only ever happened to me a couple of times so it might not be representative of what happens in other cases.

For driving stuff ive had to wait far longer to get summonsed but thats different cause no "charging" as such.
