yeah I'm using photoshop, but with photoshop you get imageready, which a web-friendly version of PS, and with that you can make cool gif animations etc. like the ones above, pretty easy mate, try it
just make something in photoshop, and ind the file menu you can "jump to imageReady" then your file will be transfered into ImageReady and you can play around with different scenes...
