It sounded pretty bad today and my main concern other than the neighbours looking at me funny is that something breaks. Should I use a thinner oil during the winter, have the tappets adjusted if that is possible or just leave it?

you CANT adjust the tappets, give it a oil change if you want or leave it as is m8 just DONT rev it till it does quiet,
