I would say that Valvoline 5/40 is fine for standard and stage 1 Cossies. Not sure about stage 3 or 4 cossies........
Having said that my Paul Bailey engined Saph (4x4) used the next grade up (Valvoline 5/50) for around 4 years, engine was Stage 4 on light blues with 407 BHP/396 ft /LBS and I did 4 to 5 track days per year in that car WITH NO PROBLEMS!
