Because dog engagement gearboxes (if that is the sort of sequential you are thinking of), don't like changing gear unless under load. They are also invariably straight cut, which is MEGA noisey and it just becomes very tiring.

The alternative is the Reland Skyline conversion, which uses an OS Giken sequential box, which is has helical gears. Supposed to be better in operation for "normal" driving, but the set-up still needs proving in Martin's car first .

The "best" bet would be swapping gearboxes over - one for road and one for track....
