Default The Series 2 Slight Restoration Thread! :)

Right the other one got a bit messed up so I thought I would start a new one (Plus I am bored at work)

Click on any of the pics for full size images (Yes, that is how bored I am)

Started off with a lot of leaks into the cabin, dirty engine bay, slipping clutch, fooked alternator and battery so I thought it would be a good time to take it off the road while I have use of a second car (Beasty 1.2 punto convertable, love it )

Here are a couple of pics from when I first started:

The engine bay just looked tatty and not very good to look at at all!

Started to get most of the components out of the engine bay!

Ordered some goodies for the engine bay to make it look a bit tidier once it is all back in, don't really like chrome so thought blue and grey would be a good colour combination!

Engine now out Time for the work to start!

Once I had stripped the interior out includign the carpet and everything I found it to be stupidly damp underneath the carpet and all of the old sound proofing was minging, damp smelly and rotten!

Had a bit of a problem with rust where the previous battery tray looked as if it had been done by a gypsy and it had made what is known as a gaping hole!

So got it all ready to go to the bodyshop (RSG Bodystyling)

Getting picked up to go, looking lovely and mean on the back of the trailer (Think it is one of my favourite pics of it ever)

It came back 2 days later looking like this, they found the rust on the actual tray to be surface rust and was still really solid so just cut up the new battery tray and welded this in to fit where the other one had a big hole! Does not look that pretty but after a couple of hours with a wire brush it should do!

Cleaned the floor, made sure there was no surface rust and then gave it a coat of Stonechip which I think looks quite good like that! Wouldn't mind having it looking like that all the time!

Put some soundproofing down just incase, hopefully get rid of some rattles, knocks and maybe make it a bit nicer to drive (Although weighing it down )

Then won these items on ebay:

Nice new blue water hose

New clocks

New rear arch as mine is ****ed!

Tomomrow I will be mostly looking for some decent underlay to put down before I can put the carpet back in and give the interior a proper good clean before fitting that again!
