Thanks Xpack & Dan

Im using Tiscali at the moment, but they have been useless signed i signed upto them, so considering binning them....

Ultimately, i think i'd like the new system to be connected direct to the router (would have to be ethernet), then a wired connection from the router to the other older computer's RJ45 socket.

Please excuse me if im sounding completely stupid, but this networking stuff is lost on me.

So, options are for my desired setup?

1. Ethernet Modem router??? Is that the best way?
2. Cable from above router to other computer???
3. Is that all?
4. what about this 10/100 1mgb stuff???

Based on this, anybody want to plump for an actual model as well as make?

Everytime i look at sites selling different parts for the above i get confused by all the terminology that goes with the specs
