To tell the truth, i been with NTL for about 5 months now, and its been good. Only had downtime once for about 10 minutes. Customer service isn't too shabby in the day time either, and when i do get through, they are very helpful.
None of the shit that AOL dish out, such as 'Turn your PC off, reset the whole thing, reinstall AOL, uninstall the modem, put the modem in the oven, then reconnect it, waste 4 hours doing it, and it should be ok'
At least with cable, they can find the fault and exactly where it is, unlike BT who have to physically send someone out to the exchange to hav a look at what's wrong.
Anyway, ADSL is a pain in the arse with routers, cos you need to log on to ADSL, wheras with cable its always on, not logging in needed etc etc
EDIT: Just to add to this, the NTL hub is about 2 roads away from me

i was somewhat worried that a whois on my IP would return it as being connected to that exchange, which was a bit close to home. So now i surf the belfast hub as a proxy
EDIT 2: Some interesting reading
http://www.ntl.com/mediacentre/press/display.asp?id=797 What i don't understand is that 3MB users pay more than 2MB users, so when 3MB users are upgraded to 10MB will they still be paying the 3MB price, and will the 2MB customers on 10MB still be paying the 2MB price?
p.s God help you if you got a set top box
