Actually it's nothing like that in this case.
If you want to try and make an accurate analogy, it's like an electrician building a complicated fuse box in your house, putting a big padlock on it and not letting you have the key when you need to change a fuse.
If someone was intent on copying a map or whatever and making use of it, I'm sure the £350 + VAT that Ballin mentioned would be only a tiny hurdle to them.
