Paint the walls with watered down UniBond. Let that dry, paint over the top. Only need one coat, but beware - make sure the UniBond goes in all the indentations in the blocks first..............otherwsie the blocks will drink the paint. Alternatively, watered down emulsion will do the same job. Slap it on the walls. Like painting fresh plater really.
