I'd say it doesn't really matter as to turbocharge you're changing the rods and pistons (at least you should be) so you can do what you wnat - they all fit to the Zetec crank no matter what engine year.

Of course there are other things to consider like what car you want to mount it in.

If you wanted to build a monster then the CGI block is the strongest.
