I also took my car to germany earlier in the year and it made it there and back under it's own steam - even with a damaged turbo (on the way back)
It was also my daily driver

Your best bet is just to prepare the car meticulously i think and think about if there are any parts which might be a bit tired. Maybe get it checked over and set up before you go?? then you should know it's running well and any probs might be picked up
Before i went to germany, I had considered how many miles the gearbox had done and had that in the back of my mind - forgot about the age of the turbo
