mk5 escort 'anti theft module'
as fitted to early escos, rs200 and ghia etc, the one that only works from locking the drivers door and there is no seperate imobilser.
the unit is located in the drivers footwell, what can fail in these( is it common) for them to draw well over 100ma at rest? if i pull the fuse on the bck of the fusebox, (fuse 29) the fault light comes on(i say fault, but it is also the armed and alarm lights next to the frost warning lamps on the clock)
with it powered down, the current draw stops, the car starts fine and runs fine, but the central locking doesnt work (as u'd expect) but it does centrally lock/unlock from the toad fob, (but it makes the deadlocks come in and u cant get out of the car form inside unless u disarm twice.
anybody got any info on these 'anti theft modules' re what goes in them, or is it just aswell getting one from a scrap yard. has anydoby else done a current test at rest to see what the battery drain is with this still connected?
